Raymond Gray Raymond Gray directs the Client Relations and Development efforts of the firm.Prior to becoming partners with Jim Popp, Raymond spent nearly 15 years of representing appraisal districts and taxing units. Few persons better understand the pressures and constraints under which appraisal districts operate or the interplay between local appraisal efforts and state revenues than Raymond. He has been a much-requested speaker at professional seminars as well as a frequent instructor of appraisal district and tax office staff, teaching subjects such as Texas Property Tax Law, Property Tax Collections, and Advanced Collections. An active member of IPT and Texas Association of Property Tax Professionals, Raymond has spoken at numerous conferences and symposia. Raymond served as law clerk to the Committee on Ways and Means of the Texas House of Representatives during the initial revisions of the Texas Property Tax Code in 1981. And, he was Legislative Aide and Counsel to his hometown (Corpus Christi, TX) state representative. Raymond is a founding member of the Property Tax Subsection of the State Bar of Texas, and is either a current or former member of the Texas Association of Appraisal Districts (TAAD), Texas Association of Assessing Officers (TAAO), Texas Association of County Assessors (TACA), and Texas Association of School Assessors (TASA). Raymond received his B.A. degree from Southwestern University, and his J.D. degree from the University of Texas at Austin. Raymond was awarded the Silver Beaver Award for his service to the Capitol Area Council (CAC) by the Boy Scouts of America. The Silver Beaver Award is the highest form of recognition that a local council can bestow on a volunteer. The Silver Beaver is an award given to those who implement the Scouting program and perform community service through hard work, self sacrifice, dedication, and many years of service. Raymond is a member of the Executive Board of the CAC, where he serves as Vice President of Friends of Scouting, and as Chair of the Downtown Austin FOS Luncheon. Raymond is also a proud member of the Bee Cave District Committee, where he has served in leadership positions on both the Membership and Finance Committees. Raymond has enjoyed Scouting in many roles. He was Den Leader, Webelos Den Leader, Assistant Cubmaster, and Cubmaster of Pack 29, and, until recently, continued to serve P29 as Unit Commissioner. Raymond followed his two sons in Scouting, first as Assistant Scoutmaster, then Scoutmaster and Committee Chair, at Troop 31. Troop 31 was re-chartered in 2001 with 12 boys, and under Raymond's leadership grew to 80+ boys before he stepped down as SM. Raymond is a tireless fundraiser, committed to providing as many people as possible the opportunity to give to Scouting, so that the promise of Scouting is available to every young person that wants to join the fun. https://www.bsacac.org/online_donation.php | ||
