Wayne Gibbens

Wayne GibbensWayne Gibbens participates in Governmental Affairs and Client Relations and Development for the firm.

Wayne is the past president of the US Oil & Gas Association, an industry trade association representing the exploration and production interests of producers of all sizes, from the largest of integrated companies to the smallest of independent producers. Gibbens is also an active independent producer of oil and natural gas.

Wayne attended Texas Tech and the University of Texas School of Law. The year after graduating from Tech he was elected to the Texas Legislature. During three terms in the Legislature he served on the committees on Oil and Gas, State Affairs and Revenue and Taxation. He resigned his seat in the Legislature to accept appointment by Governor Connally as a Special Assistant to establish a liaison office for the State of Texas in Washington D.C. where he served as Director of State-Federal Relations. He was Special Counsel to the President of American Petroleum Institute and President of the Mid-Continent Oil & Gas Association, which later was renamed US Oil & Gas Association.

Wayne is a Board member of the world renown M.D. Anderson Cancer Research Center where he has been a member of the Executive Committee and where he currently serves on the Chairman's Advisory Committee. He is a member of the Twenty-Five Year Club of the Petroleum Industry, past President of the Texas State Society in Washington D.C., a former Board member of the Walftrap Foundation and Board member of the Maret School.

Wayne is a Board member of the LBJ Foundation and has been actively engaged in the establishment of the Robert S. Strauss Center for International Law and Security. He is a member of the National Trust Council of the Nation Trust for Historic Preservation. He is also a member of the Board of Young Concert Artists International.
