Kirk Garza,

Director

Kirk Garza, MAI, CCIM, CMI, is a Director at Popp Hutcheson and has been involved with commercial real estate valuation for over 15 years. His experience includes the valuation and analysis of various properties, including retail, office, multifamily, industrial, healthcare, mixed-use, self-storage, and vacant land. In his current role, he works directly with the Chief Operating Officer on developing and implementing firm-wide systems and practices. Kirk is also involved throughout the start-to-finish property tax process; he advocates on our clients’ behalf at Appraisal Review Board hearings, reviews property tax budgets, and supports litigation proceedings. 

Before returning to Popp Hutcheson after a nine-year tenure, Kirk was a Managing Director at Bowery Valuation. In this position, he was responsible for the launch and scale of Texas operations as part of a nationwide expansion initiative. In addition, Kirk was previously the Senior Director for a privately owned commercial real estate appraisal company and was responsible for the daily operations of the Valuation & Advisory Services team.

Kirk has presented on valuation at professional seminars, authored articles on property tax valuation, and moderated several property tax industry panels. To stay up to date with commercial real estate valuation and market issues affecting our clients’ portfolios, Kirk frequents events hosted by the Appraisal Institute, International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), Urban Land Institute (ULI), Certified Commercial Investment Member Institute (CCIM Institute), and the Institute for Professionals in Taxation (IPT).

Kirk received his B.S. from Texas A&M University in 2006, and he graduated with his Master of Land Economics and Real Estate from Texas A&M in 2007. He is a Certified General Appraiser in Texas and holds the MAI designation of the Appraisal Institute. Kirk has also earned the CCIM designation through the CCIM Institute and the CMI designation from IPT. He is currently active in the ULI Next program and is a past Appraisal Institute Austin Chapter president. He also serves as President-Elect of the Aggie Real Estate Network and is a member of the IPT CMI Professional Designation Property Tax Committee.
